These 4-patch blocks were part of an exchange at the Dallas Quilt Guild quite a few years ago. The theme was Christmas fabric that month. It took me 8-9 years to finally put them into a quilt.

Saturday Morning

I woke up on a Saturday morning and decided to make a quilt with only fabrics from my closet. So I found these blocks that I had won at an auction at a local quilt guild. They were made by women I knew years before that and someone must have won them and never did anything with them, and then donated them to the guild to sell at the quilt show. I won them in a silent auction so I used them in this quilt. Everything else in this quilt was fabric from my stash--I didn't go buy anything new for it.

Bobbie's Quilt

Bobbie died of cancer a few years back. Six of us, including Bobbie, made this quilt together and her children hung it at her funeral.

I quilted this one for the woman who embroidered the blocks and put it together. Together we won a ribbon on it.

I bought this quilt top from a 82 yr old woman at a garage sale. Her son had brought her scraps and she hand-pieced it.

Hateful Thing!

I hated making this quilt. What a pain to match the pattern. It was supposed to have an uneven border but I was so aggravated that I just wanted it out of my hair and didn't want to spend another minute on it.

I don't know the name of this pattern. I saw a picture of an old quilt and realized that I had some partial block pieces already cut that I could use for this one, so I pulled them out and finished it in a day. Notice the red block where I switched out the fabrics because I didn't have enough of the same fabric for the whole block. I do this often, even if I do have enough. I like the effect it gives to the quilt.

I don't usually make quilts with only a couple fabrics. I don't know what I was thinking. It was pretty, but I don't mind that I don't own it now.

Winter Block Trade

These were 4 blocks that I made for a winter block exchange in my friendship group. The rule was blue stars on white background. You would get your name in the drawing once for each block you made. I didn't win them but I've thought often of making the checkerboard star for an entire quilt.

This is one of my favorite, fast baby quilt patterns. I keep these rectangles cut and ready. Then when I need one in a hurry I only have to pick a border and backing.
